What permanent magnet materials are commonly used in permanent magnet motors?

The most commonly used material in permanent magnet motors today is Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB). It has a very high energy product, which allows for strong magnetic fields, making motors smaller and more powerful. Ferrite permanent magnets are cheaper, but their magnetic performance is lower, so they are often used in low‑power or cost‑sensitive applications. Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) magnets offer excellent high‑temperature resistance, but they are expensive. NdFeB permanent magnet motors are currently the best‑performing mainstream products and are widely used in industries, automotive, home appliances, and many other fields.
